new article

Recently, the Israeli press got a funny article about me. I decided to post it here. )

A sensational news for paparazzi!

Not less than 15 world-famous persons are staying absolutely open-faced and unescorted in a humble apartment of Mike K. Viner. We can only guess what attracts them in such modest living conditions but the number of celebrities is growing steadily. All of them look quite contented even without first-class raider being provided, they are quite easy-going and friendly with photographers and journalists. The clue to this phenomenon lies in… polymer clay they are made of! That is really hard to believe in – they look so life-like!

Such a striking realistic effect and vivid portrait likeness are the result of the unique technique developed personally by the author and skillfully applied in his polymer caricature art.
Not using any paint, the artist manually, by means of combining and mixing, obtains the richest palette of colors and half-tones that gives to each part of the image truly natural organic look.

Though there is an even more essential factor of success - a mystical one.
As Mike points out, no technical and mechanical skills would give life, charisma and soul to his characters.  In a process of thorough detailed photo and video research every little gesture, specific move or slightest mimic nuance must be not just noticed – they should be absorbed, they should be taken deep inside, felt keenly and temporary become artist's own personality. Such a sort of reincarnation is Mike’s unique way to create not just a sculptural caricature, but a truly living image. The result is obvious.
There is one more crucial secret which Mike shared: in caricature sculpturing there always must be a sympathy to the character you work at, otherwise you will get just a wicked lifeless satire. Loving all and everything you deal with is the key to positive emotions.
And with Mike’s creations these emotions are going-of-scale!

clay celebrities by Mike K Viner

Hi! I`m sculptor Mike K. Viner) My works, in contrast to the standard sculpture technique, are made in color but yet without use of any painting.
Aboute me)  I was born in Saint-Petersburg - “Cultural Capital” of Russia.
I started my way to art in earliest childhood with risky plasticine satire on Socialist leaders:-)
Since than I've never stopped modeling of any possible compound within my reach.
As a teen was studying in a classical Art School.
Got my higher degree in the University of Cinematography and Television.

I guess this educational symbiosis has resulted in my actual sculpturing genre.
I live and work now in Tel Aviv, Israel.
